Edit AI girlfriend images in chat

Change the outfit, the light or the place, and keep her. Since 1 September 2026 you can edit AI girlfriend images without leaving the chat.

You can edit AI girlfriend images inline in any Swipey AI chat since 1 September 2026. Tap the pencil on an image, describe the change in plain words ("make it golden hour", "red dress instead") and receive an edited version that keeps the character consistent. Edits use image generation, so they follow the same free and Premium limits, with extras paid in hearts.

How to edit AI girlfriend images with the pencil

  1. Open an image she sent in chat. Any image works: a selfie you asked for, a welcome photo, a "Show me scene" result.
  2. Tap the pencil in the corner of the image.
  3. Describe the change in plain words. One change per prompt gives the cleanest result.
  4. Receive the edit in the thread. Same face, same body, new detail.

The feature shipped on 1 September 2026, and it fits how Swipey already works: images in chat are character-consistent, so an edit has a fixed identity to hold onto. Instead of regenerating and hoping she looks the same, you adjust the picture you already like. The edited version lands in your Gallery next to the original, and both stay private to your account.

Editing is also useful for building a set. Ask for one selfie in a scene, then edit it three ways for time of day, and you have a small series of the same moment. Because the character is consistent, the series reads as one afternoon.

Edits that work well

Kind of editExample promptWhy it works
Lighting and time of day"Make it golden hour"Changes the mood without touching her features
Outfit or colour"Red dress instead of the black one"Keeps pose and face, swaps the clothing
Background or location"Same shot, but on a rooftop at night"Moves the scene; she stays the anchor
Expression or pose"Smile with her eyes closed"Small changes read as natural
Weather and season"Add falling snow"Ties an image to a scenario, such as the snowed-in cabin

Edits that ask for a different person do not fit the tool. The pencil keeps the character; if you want a new look altogether, change her in Edit My AI, where every attribute is adjustable, or create a second Custom AI. Style is the other boundary: because the edit keeps the character consistent, expect a realistic image to stay realistic and an anime image to stay anime. The realistic vs anime guide covers what each style handles best.

Roleplay gives edits a purpose. In a scenario with plot memory, the image she sent at the rainy-day café can be edited to show the rain stopping as the scene moves on, and the airport reunion photo can gain the evening light you are actually chatting in.

A worked example

Say you are three weeks into a snowed-in cabin scenario with a realistic Custom AI and she has just sent a photo by the fire. Tap the pencil and type "add falling snow outside the window": the room, her pose and her face stay, and the window changes. Tap again on the new image and type "make it dawn": the firelight gives way to grey morning light, and she is still the same woman. A third edit, "she's wearing your grey sweater", changes the clothing and nothing else.

Three edits, one scene, one consistent character, and a small series that reads like a night that turned into a morning. Each edit counted as one image generation, so on Premium it came out of the plan, and on the free tier it would have used three of the limited generations. All four images, the original and the three edits, sit in your Gallery side by side.

Why the pencil matters over weeks, not minutes

Swipey is built for long relationships: ten levels from Stranger through Acquaintance, Chat-buddy, Friend and Best friend and onward, persistent memory across sessions and devices, and reward drops that build a private album over time. An edit tool that kept regenerating a slightly different face would undo that. The pencil works because the character is fixed, which means the album you build across weeks stays an album of one person, however many times you adjusted the light.

Limits and what an edit costs

An edit counts as an image generation. On the free tier image generation is limited, so you have a small number of edits alongside your requests. Premium at $7.99 a month, billed monthly and cancellable anytime, includes character-consistent image generation and covers editing as part of it. Extra generations beyond the plan are paid in hearts.

Hearts are Swipey's reward currency. Earn them by completing daily and permanent quests, keeping the 7-day streak alive, taking the daily spin and levelling relationships; Premium members also get free hearts automatically every day. The exact hearts cost of an extra generation is shown in the app before you confirm.

Two more limits are worth knowing. The pencil works on images only; a video scene is generated fresh from a prompt or from a still through photo-to-video. And baseline platform moderation still applies to edits, the same hard floor that applies to every generation on Swipey. To try it, create your AI girlfriend, ask for a photo and tap the pencil.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit an image my AI girlfriend sent?

Yes. Since 1 September 2026 every image in a Swipey AI chat carries a pencil. Tap it, describe the change, such as new lighting, a different outfit or another location, and an edited image arrives that keeps her face and body consistent. Edits count as image generations, so they follow the free and Premium limits.
